Spyderco yojimbo 31/27/2024 Very pleased with this purchase and top marks to Heinnie as usual. The knife is light, opens easily with one hand and not too bulky in the pocket.Ī wharnecliffe makes a great blade for utility uses, and it's also easy to sharpen. The tip is needle like, so not meant for abuse, but strong enough to handle most tasks. I was aware of the concept behind the design, which primarily was for SD, however its use as a utility blade is outstanding.įrom cutting up fruit, opening packaging and a multitude of other uses it really is a useful tool. What a superb knife! I originally bought it because it was slightly different to most other folders out on the market. Ive had this for a couple of months now and deliberately waited to write a review. Another advantage of the hollow grind - apart from its superb cutting ability - is the fact that a nice thin edge can be maintained with successive sharpening. Assuming same blade stock thickness and a full flat grind the blade would be thinner at all points down to the edge (assuming same behind the edge thickness in both cases) Imagine two lines drawn on the tip 'slope' down to the edge bevel - plenty of metal either side with the hollow grind. One of the advantages of the hollow grind is in fact increased tip strength. Just a quick comment re a point raised by Jon L in a previous review regarding tip strength. The quality however is evident - feels very secure & natural in the hand, love the blade geometry & the compression lock. It was a little smaller than I had imagined and like all Spyderco knives, more expansive than when I first started buying them. The Yojimbo 2 is an excellent knife for everyday use and multiple applications. I had the opportunity to train with Bram Frank many years ago & always regretted not getting his Gunting when Spyderco produced that. I was persuaded on the functionality of this knife when I cane across a video of Michael Janich explaining the concepts on Jerry Miculek's YouTube channel, followed by Janich's Evolution of Spyderco's Yojimbo 2 on the Martial Blade Concepts channel. The handle of the Yojimbo 2 is slightly longer than that of the Ronin 2 which I have found is a distinct advantage when wearing tactical gloves.Īs usual HH service was second to none, from ordering on a Tuesday morning I received the Yojimbo the next morning! The blade is very sharp straight from the box, the locking mechanism is strong yet deploying the knife from the closed position is amazingly smooth and quick. ![]() I already have the Spyderco Ronin 2 attached (horizontally) to my LBT6904 below my magazine pouches, so it made sense (to me) to own a back-up blade that handles (feels) similar, so I purchased a Yojimbo 2, and I am very happy with the purchase. Great knife, well worth the money ! Fast delivery and great service ! We'll recommend A++++ Posted by Luke O' connor on 12th May 2021 But realising the action on this is literally a tiny flick. Definately a good buy if you like spyderco.
